Landscape photographer of the year

I am delighted to announce that one of my images has been commended in this years "take a view" Landscape photographer of the year. The competition is said to have over 20,000 images entered and is then shortlisted down to 300 images and then down to a final 150 images which make the annual book and exhibition. The competition is split into different categories such as classic view, living the view, urban and your view. My image of Honley woods was commended in the Your view category.

This image is a personal favourite of mine. I spent a lot of time here as a child and I walk here most days with my job as a dog walker. I spotted this particular scene while walking the dogs and knew with the right conditions it could be a special image. I called it "the battle" as it reminded me of an old historic battle scene with the trees as the soldiers coming down the hillside and some fallen casualties at the bottom of the scene. It also makes it special to me as its local. A lot of the images in the book are often of the lake district or Scotland so it was lovely to see a local image get picked.
